- Many slaves were transported here in the 1700's.
- By the end of the 1700's more and more people were against slavery like John Graves Simcoe, who was the Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada.
- 1793-- Simcoe managed to pass a law that made it illegal to bring more slaves into Canada.
- He also made a law that stated that children born into slavery will be freed when they turn 25.
- Eventually slavery in British north America died out.
